A Study on the Clinical Findings of Toxemic Patients

Abstract
An analysis was made to observe the differences of some clinical findings of pregnant women and of fetal or neonatal conditions between toxemic patients and normal pregnant women.
The data used were collected from clinical records of 576 pregnant women who delivered new born at Chungnam University Hospital during 1980-1981.
The major findings from this study were as follows
1. The pregnancies were terminated earlier among toxemic patients than non-toxemic mothers. 2. The incidence of Ceasarean section was higher among non-toxemic mothers.
3. The toxemic patients had more complications other than toxemia.
4. Longer duration of labor and larger amount of blood loss during labor were observed among toxemic mothers.
5. Toxemic patients were hospitalized more days than non-toxemic mothers.
6. The incidence of fetal death and fetal distress was higher among the fetus of toxemic mothers.
7. The higher proportions of the infant with lower Apgar score or lighten birth weight were observed among new born of toxemic mothers.
